Despite a formidable line-up, Tin Machine’s output was generally savaged by music critics, not to mention some Bowie fans. However your host, Stewart Steak, is labouring under the impression that Tin Machine wasn’t quite the failure that popular opinion suggests.

So which is the most fantastic, or perhaps for the cynics, the least rubbish Tin Machine album?

Eponymous “Heroes”

There is a select band of real people who can boast their name in a David Bowie title. Perhaps Blue Jean, Aladdin Sane, Nathan Adler, Baby Grace, and Joe the Lion are based on non-fictional persons, but let’s concentrate on the certainties. So which is the most listenable of the following?

Most, though not all, of Bowie´s albums take their name from one of the host tracks. It´s entirely up to you to decide which ditty is awarded the Album Title Title.

Vote Twice.

Tired of voter apathy, my old friend Dave has allowed you, the stewing-steak connoisseurs, to vote twice in this retro special. Bowie has been recording material for over forty years, however during the 1970’s he managed to create an album every year, making it the most productive decade of his career.

So box-tickers, whether you´re from Mars, Detroit, Ibiza or the Norfolk Broads exercise your right to chose the finest album of the 70’s - TWICE!

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Alright then, back to the music….Bowie has released a number of hit records that have not featured on studio albums. Simply select your favourite from the following short list. In terms of music sales, Under Pressure gifted David his third UK number one (and Vanilla Ice his first), Absolute Beginners peaked at number two, and rest made the Top Twenty; regardless it’s your decision.

So how will our hero do in the virtual boxing ring?

David Hasselhoff - First up is the clash of the singer/actors with German fan-bases. Hasselhoff AKA the American Tom Jones (or is Jones the Welsh David Hasselhoff?) has the advantage of bulk; Bowie the advantage of record sales. Whilst David B is always crashing in the same car, David H has a car that can talk. Bowie is married to Iman; Hasselhoff has met Pamela Anderson. It really is a tough one.

Unlike Jagger, Richards has never done a tacky charity cover of Dancin’ in the Streets (UK number one in summer 1985) in partnership with Bowie. And unlike Jagger, there is no chance of Richards kissing and making up after a punch-up. No, Richards is clearly a man who has faced death on numerous occasions, and has so far survived every time. One also suspects that whilst this Rolling Stone is gathering creative moss, he’d still be an asset in a pub brawl.
